Brain injury lawyers who care
Brain injury or concussion in Ottawa? A brain injury lawyer from MG Law can help file your TBI claim.
According to Brain Injury Canada, 160,000 Canadians suffer a brain injury annually*.
If you or a loved one has been involved in an accident causing a traumatic brain injury (TBI) or concussion (mTBI), it can be an extremely distressing time. Responsible for coordinating all human action, the brain is an incredibly important, yet fragile part of the body. As such, any damage to this organ can prove catastrophic with potential life-changing consequences. Violent blows or jolts to the head are often caused by car accidents, motorcycle accidents, and slip and fall accidents. If you have a TBI claim, figuring out what the means for your day-to-day life can be overwhelming. You need to consider things such as an extensive leave from work, a loss of earnings as a result, and potential therapies and doctor appointments to help you heal. In your time of need, a brain injury lawyer from MG Law can help.
When a brain injury occurs, a proper diagnosis and swift treatment is vital to avoiding serious brain damage. If unconsciousness lasts for several minutes or more, the TBI is often categorized as moderate or severe. If unconsciousness lasts from a few seconds to a few minutes, it is often categorized as a concussion or mild TBI.
It’s important to understand the impact that a catastrophic injury or traumatic brain injury can have on you and your family’s life. Backed by over 10 years of industry experience, MG Law supports those impacted by traumatic brain injury, by offering them our undivided attention. A brain injury lawyer from MG Law can establish everything necessary to make a TBI claim, so you can focus on healing.

Our firm specializes in the following brain injury accidents:
Important steps to take when injured
It’s important to remember that injuries can take some time to present themselves. If you’ve been in a bad accident, it’s important to take these steps regardless of how you feel, as it may take a few days or weeks for the full extent of your injuries to become apparent.
Police reports are a valuable part of any court proceeding, so ensuring that the police have all the information you have available will reflect positively on your case.
Didn’t consult with a brain injury lawyer at the time of your accident? We can still help.
If you didn’t meet with a brain injury lawyer when your accident happened, that’s okay. We can still work with you to get you the compensation you deserve. You have up to two years from the time of your accident to pursue legal action and financial compensation.
It’s important to note that if your injury was the result of a slip and fall, the timeline changes. If the fall happened on municipal property, you only have 10 days to provide written notice to the municipality. If the fall happened on private property, you only have 60 days to provide notice.
The two-year limitation period does not begin for a child until they reach the age of 18, but that doesn’t mean you should wait until your child turns 18 to reach out to a brain injury lawyer. It’s still a good idea to contact a lawyer while all of the details are fresh, but even if you waited, you may still have a case.
If you’ve been injured, our brain injury lawyers can help you find the resources you need
MG Law is proudly a member of three influential brain injury organizations – International Brain Injury Association (IBIA), North America Brain Injury Society (NABIS), and International Paediatric Brain Injury Society (IPBIS).
